Resolved Question: help with decorating living room?

I've been trying to receive my living room set up the way I like it and I accomplished that, but I noticed there isn't much color at every. The walls are a tan color, the carpet is brown. every the furniture is creme/brown wood colored. My loveseat has both blue and a pale red in it as well as the tan. Also in the living room are a glider/rocker which is primarily blue (with wood) and that's about it for color. I also have a papasan seat and two barstools which sit at the bar between the living room and the kitchen. Right off the living room is the kitchen (it's a mobile home) which has a deep red color around the countertops and pale blue curtains (it's actually the same blue as in the glider rocker and in the loveseat. Basically I want to liven it up a bit mostly in the living room, but perhaps a little in the kitchen as well. I plan on getting rid of my old curtains which are basically white bath towels with a maroon valance. I want to put up deep red curtains to match the trim on the bar adjacent in the kitchen. Here are some pictures to show how it looks now. It's usually not this messy though! Any suggestions for adding a splash of color? I like the texture pattern on the walls so I don't plan on painting them, I also just put this carpet down so I can't really go back on that eaither. So the colors I'm working with are a deep red/maroon and a pale blue along with every the browns/tans from the carpet and furniture. Any suggestions? Perhaps fake plants or some pillows? I also have access to lots of carpet, so perhaps I could make/or purchase a nice big carpet to tug it every together. I am willing to move my furniture around if anyone feels it would better suit the room. Also willing to take criticism about furniture, and to eliminate pieces every together as you look fit. here is a link to my photobucket images of the rooms and of the loveseat http://s130.photobucket.com/albums/p278/georgew84/

Open Question: Does this sound okay for a terrorism doesn't work essay?

From childhood, we are taught that violence doesn’t solve problems, but only creates them. Not being from a Country that is known to a lot of terrorism, I couldn’t image what people go through everyday and how many lives are lost or even wasted from people with difference of opinions. I have researched every the outcomes of the world’s most influential terrorist attacks and I can safely say that terrorism might be one the world’s greatest flaws but the official line is no, it does not work but my research of many former terrorists would indicate otherwise. Usually there is a range of motives and emotions behind a terrorism attack e.g., Racial hatred, difference in opinion, or even just proving a point. Terrorism has become a normal thing in people’s lives and soon enough we will be hearing of more deaths, more suicide attacks and more murders. Al Qaeda felt a sense of outrage against the US, their outrage cost 2,973 innocent lives in the 9/11 suicide attacks. Are we now living in a world that when were outraged we fly into a side of a building? The terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah is believed to be behind the Bali Bombings, killing over 200 people, 120 of them Australians. And those bombings are just scratches on the surface, there are suicide attacks, bombs and murders everyday that we don’t hear about. The main question; did the terrorist receive what they were fighting for? Did America roll over and let Al Qaeda rule their country, no. The exception of the rule is many terrorist in Afghanistan and Israel went on to become Prime ministers and rulers of their Countries. I'm anti-violence as a rule and I believe that nobody in their right minds would blow themselves up, especially not in a crowded place with the intention of killing innocent bystanders The RIRA and the bombing in Omagh is a great example of how terrorism doesn’t work. The RIRA’s ultimate objective is a united Ireland by forcing British withdrawal by the use of physical force. Did the RIRA prove their point to the British by bombing Omagh? Or was the 29 life’s lost just a wasted point? The British still to this day rule of Northern Ireland, so The RIRA didn’t receive what they were fighting for. The RIRA didn’t only bomb Omagh they had planted many more bomb before that attack and after, none of which made the British leave. You can say it was persistence, or they just liked killing innocents and blowing things up. Overall, I think that circumstances make people act in certain ways and any form of terrorism will have a huge impact on people’s lives. Terrorism is a stand for what the terrorist believe in, why such drastic measures? Why not a petition or a protest? I have researched a lot about terrorist and I will never understand the way they think and why they have to kill innocent people to make a mark, i certainly do not support the use of terrorist tactics. But my country has not been invaded, so what would I do if it were? It would be difficult to stand idly by, that's for sure. It kinda seems like i dont know where im heading haha, Any idea on how to make it sound better, receive my point across a bit better?

Open Question: UK only - I need a plant that will envelop a fence?

Imagine if you will a 5m section of boundary between you and your neighbour that has suddenly become exposed after you dismantled a summer home. The boundary itself is a 1ft rock wall. On top of that wall, technically on the neighbours property, there is a fence that is about 4ft tall that looks a little like this one: http://img.archiexpo.com/images_ae/photo-g/aluminium-garden-fence-41158.jpg I don't want to lose much of my garden area so i was thinking that i could sneak in some plants on top of the wall just in front of the fence that will grow and envelop the fence, it would be ideal. I was hoping that someone could suggest a plant that is evergreen that will not grow out of control and that will be glad to be tied to a fence. It will also have to like partial/full shade and a Midlands climate.

Voting Question: What Does The Poem "On The Pulse of The Morning" By Maya Angelou Mean?

A Rock, A River, A Tree Hosts to species long since departed, Marked the mastodon. The dinosaur, who left dry tokens Of their sojourn here On our planet floor, Any broad alarm of their hastening doom Is lost in the gloom of dust and ages. But today, the Rock cries out to us, clearly, forcefully, arrive, you may stand upon my Back and face your distant destiny, But seek no haven in my shadow. I will give you no more hiding place down here. You, created only a little lower than The angels, have crouched too long in The bruising darkness, Have lain too long Face down in ignorance. Your mouths spilling words Armed for slaughter. The Rock cries out today, you may stand on me, But do not hide your face. Across the wall of the world, A River sings a beautiful tune, arrive relax here by my side. Each of you a bordered country, Delicate and strangely made proud, Yet thrusting perpetually below siege. Your armed struggles for profit Have left collars of waste upon My shore, currents of debris upon my breast. Yet, today I call you to my riverside, If you will study war no more. arrive, Clad in peace and I will sing the songs The Creator gave to me when I and the Tree and the rock were one. Before cynicism was a bloody sear across your Brow and when you yet knew you still Knew nothing. The River sings and sings on. There is a true yearning to respond to The singing River and the wise Rock. So say the Asian, the Hispanic, the Jew The African and Native American, the Sioux, The Catholic, the Muslim, the French, the Greek The Irish, the Rabbi, the Priest, the Sheikh, The Gay, the Straight, the Preacher, The privileged, the homeless, the Teacher. They hear. They every hear The speaking of the Tree. Today, the first and last of every Tree Speaks to humankind. arrive to me, here beside the River. Plant yourself beside me, here beside the River. Each of you, descendant of some passed On traveller, has been paid for. You, who gave me my first name, you Pawnee, Apache and Seneca, you Cherokee Nation, who rested with me, then Forced on bloody feet, left me to the employment of Other seekers--desperate for gain, Starving for gold. You, the Turk, the Swede, the German, the Scot ... You the Ashanti, the Yoruba, the Kru, bought Sold, stolen, arriving on a nightmare Praying for a dream. Here, root yourselves beside me. I am the Tree planted by the River, Which will not be moved. I, the Rock, I the River, I the Tree I am yours--your Passages have been paid. Lift up your faces, you have a piercing need For this bright morning dawning for you. History, despite its wrenching pain, Cannot be unlived, and if faced With courage, need not be lived again. Lift up your eyes upon The day breaking for you. Give birth again To the dream. Women, kids, men, Take it into the palms of your hands. Mold it into the shape of your most Private need. Sculpt it into The image of your most public self. Lift up your hearts Each new hour holds new chances For new beginnings. Do not be wedded forever To fear, yoked eternally To brutishness. The horizon leans forward, Offering you space to place new steps of change. Here, on the pulse of this fine day You may have the courage To look up and out upon me, the Rock, the River, the Tree, your country. No less to Midas than the mendicant. No less to you now than the mastodon then. Here on the pulse of this new day You may have the grace to look up and out And into your sister's eyes, into Your brother's face, your country And say simply Very simply With wish Good morning. Thanks!!

Resolved Question: Why are there two contradicting human creation stories in genesis?

26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over every the earth, [b] and over every the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created man in his possess image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Story number 2: 4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created. When the LORD God made the earth and the heavens- 5 and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth [b] and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth [c] and there was no man to work the ground, 6 but streams [d] came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground- 7 the LORD God formed the man [e] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Later: But for Adam [h] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep snooze; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs [i] and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a lady from the rib [j] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'lady, [k] ' for she was taken out of man." So which is it? Were they created at the same time or man first then lady? Why are there two stories? In light of this stark contradiction can anything in the bible be trusted?

Resolved Question: Constructive criticism on my short story?

it started off as just a little description but i guess the point of this story is to receive an understanding of this persons lifestyle. i know its a little random but most of what i included is there for a very specific reason. any edits or revisions are GREATLY appreciated. my excuse for the unsophisticated vocab is that im twelve. thanks for any help A lot of people are nervous when they’re alone, but I actually quite like being by msyelf. I take a weekend out of every month to spend some time in the woods a few miles away from my regular home. When I was a young girl, my mom would show me every nook and cranny of the beautiful forest. Sometimes we brought a blindfold along, and I would feel along the jagged wood of the sugar pines and live oaks. Ma felt it was important to receive to know the trees before we were able to live with them in harmony. She would repeatedly ask me, “How would you like to have a stranger waltz in on your home without so much as a greeting?” I have always felt more of a connection with nature than with other people. I thank Ma profusely for introducing me to the inner workings of the gorgeous world of the forest. She has been gone for over a decade. But whenever I visit the trees, it’s like we are back in 1990, laughing and dancing together below the bright moonlight. Tonight is the last Friday of the month. I pack up my bags and my tent and journey into my true home. I always stay in a clearing that is cozy enough to feel safe, but simultaneously open enough to have a place for a tent and a campfire. The experience is infinitely more satisfying during the wee hours of the night than during the day; the people in my town are silent but the animals are very much alive. I apply bug spray and set up my tent before enjoying a meal of fruit and veggies. This process has been repeated so many times over the years that I don’t even have to think while going through the procedure. I set up a campfire and roast some marshmallows, humming to myself and staring at the stars. Sometimes I’ll look my mom’s face smiling down at me, with her “eyes” twinkling more than the other stars. Other times I’ll look my brother and sister, or my dad. If I connect the dots correctly, I can paint almost anything in the sky. I envision hearts and names and apples, teddy bears and jeans and ships, hands and clocks and airplanes. I draw for hours in my head, until I receive sleepy and simply stare at the moon. It’s so amazing how far away it is, but it appears so tangible. If I lift my hand in front of my eyes, I can pinch it. When the moon gets full, I can almost look the details of the craters. I check my watch. 3:00 AM. It’s time to perform. I retrieve my guitar from the tent and strum a few times, pondering on what songs I should play. I have been spending an inordinate amount of time thinking about my mom recently, so I decide to dedicate this performance to her. I call the attention of the pine cones, the tanoak trees, and the crickets, as the sounds of the forest seem to almost settle. My lungs fill with air before I proclaim, “This one’s for Rachel Carson!” I blend every of her favorite songs together as my habitat patiently listens. Blackbird flows into Across the Universe, which in turn transforms into And I adore Her as the Beatles’ works of art soothe my family of critters and plants. Let it Be follows Hey Jude, and Yesterday completes the mixture. After a moment’s silence, I decide to keep her every-time favorite tune for last. Tears roll down my cheeks as I start to sing John Lennon’s Imagine. Earth holds its breath as I look up at the glowing sky. “You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I wish someday you’ll join us, and the world will live as one.” oh and the story was inspired by-- http://a3.twimg.com/profile_background_images/78541591/assholeonmyelbow.jpg

Resolved Question: User 'John' said the physical world is perfect, help me prove him wrong?

See the question here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100227062022AABvFCy in his answer John said: The physical world is a "Utopia" for everything thing that is essentially physical; that is, minerals, plants and animals. The natural laws are perfect and harmonious But he forgot about every the things that are totally messed up with our universe and provide us with reason to believe that the universe is just a mindless chaotic void filled with very little matter and some very odd events from black holes to quantum mechanics He forgets or does not know that evolution has provided us with eyes that look upside down and require our brains to right the image for us Help me arrive up with some more oddities that show how God has not provided us with a perfect natural world because God does not exist MORE INFO ONCE I SAW YOUR ANSWERS (my response): Luckily we have imaginations, and that allows us to create ideals which do not exist in nature. We can use these ideals as standards by which we can measure the real world up to. For example statues of the greek gods show what they believed to be bodily perfection, a standard that most of us cannot achieve. simply being alive isnt enough for perfection when we can compare how we can be better. religious people oftentimes hold a world view that this planet was created for humans and claim that it is gos perfect creation. the point of this exercise (this question) was clearly to draw out the obvious falsehoods of this claim. i dont think i need address your answers specifically anymore and i have chosen the best answer based on its ability to mock creation further.

Resolved Question: If you like a song, must you know what the band members/artist look like?

I always prefer to not know what the artist or the band members look like if I like a tune from them, it messes it up for me how I feel about the tune, for some reason. In the same lines, I don't like to watch the promotional music video for a tune I like because it will then plant a permanent image in my head when the tune arrive on randomly on the radio. I use music to arrive up with ideas for a painting I'm working on, so for that reason I rather not have any imagery knowledge of a tune I like. Anyway, who else feel like this about music?

Resolved Question: Will Breitbart, O'Keefe and Giles come clean about the ACORN pimp hoax?

James O'Keefe never wore his crazy hustler outfit to meet with community organizers. Instead, the '70s-style blaxploitation pimp costume O'Keefe helped make famous was a propaganda tool used after the fact to deceive the public about the undercover operation. Yet in the very infancy of the ACORN scandal, Fox News was peddling a untrue story about O'Keefe's pimp costume, a untrue story that quickly morphed into accepted fact. (Eventually, after an avalanche of repetition, didn't pretty much everyone believe O'Keefe was decked out as a pimp?) It quickly morphed into fact because the guide propagandists helped to spread the tall tale. And now they won't arrive clean about their role. For instance, during that September 12 broadcast, Giles said nothing to set the record straight. That night, she sat and listened to Gutfeld tell the phony pimp story, and she became complicit in the lie. Obviously, Giles knew her undercover pal didn't look like he just came from a costume party when he walked into ACORN outposts with his undercover camera. But on Fox News, when Gutfeld spread that tale, Giles did nothing to correct the record. Soon, her undercover cohort joined in the misinformation campaign. Two days later, O'Keefe appeared on Fox & Friends decked out as a pimp. Host Steve Doocy announced that O'Keefe was "dressed exactly in the same outfit that he wore to these ACORN offices up and down the Eastern Seaboard." O'Keefe made no effort to correct Doocy's falsehood. And then one week later, writing in The Washington Times, O'Keefe and Giles' mentor, conservative activist Andrew Breitbart, whose website Big Government first hosted the ACORN clips, added to the misinformation movement. He wrote that O'Keefe had been "dressed as a pimp" while "getting" tax advice inside ACORN offices. It was every part of a campaign, often fueled by winks and nods, to plant the indelible image of O'Keefe strolling into inner-city ACORN workplaces on summer afternoons decked out in his furry pimp costume and clueless ACORN employees not batting an eye. BE CAREFUL, cons. You are being lied to.

Resolved Question: New US embassy and Pink Floyd?

I was looking at the design for the new US embassy in London (which is awful by the way) and look at what's in the background of the artists rendering: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/images/new_embassy/KT-07.jpg the Battersea Power Plant from the Animals - Pink Floyd album. Anyways, I bet there's a better design for the US embassy existing on an album cover somewhere. I nominate a giant version of the weird twisty black thing on the cover of Presence - Led Zeppelin http://www.galeon.com/allmusic/caratulas/l/led_zeppelin_-_presence-front.jpg So what album cover would you like the new embassy to be modeled on?

Resolved Question: What do you think of this article?

Happily N’ever After “And they lived happily ever after”. It sounds familiar doesn’t it? We grew up hearing those words in a land far away where no story ends but glad. Is it true? Are there any of those “happily ever after” endings where every we look in this world is bloodlust and wars? Where is the glad ending for a little girl whose mom died in her arms? Where’s the glad ending when a young boy sees his dad beaten up like an animal? Are those the fairytales that we were listening to every those years? Are they the same as the white horses and palaces and princesses we read about? Is this the real life? Every person has his possess glad ending. Yours can be wealth, mine can be true adore, and other’s can be family, but they never last. Money can be spent, adore can be washed away and family can be lost. Why must this image of a prince be involved for a glad ending? Why should it be according to this person that I shall have my glad ending? Why can’t I create my possess glad ending? It is the ideas in those fairy tales that are planted in the minds of the past and the gift generations that are wrong. Getting those little kids’s hopes way up high that they may reach the sky is wrong. The world is not a perfect place; it never was and never will be. Why should we shock those kids about the truth later on that there is never a “A happily Ever After”? It is simply cruel to make kids believe in this nice of perfection that simply does not exist in this world. =D

Voting Question: Christians, is this right about abortion?

According to the Bible and to the Church, humans don't survive on biological life as plants and animals do. Not even human cells. They are kept alive only by the spiritual human soul. Even human cells don't have any biological life. So killing an unborn human embryo or even aborting the egg cell is equaly to crucifying Jesus once more because the human soul alone is made in the image of God. What do you think? It is said that mothers who abort babies now will eat their aborted flesh for a infinite times. In hell the mothers is said to eat the aborted flesh of their babies for a infinite number of times "Where in the Bible does it say the soul is created at the time of fertilization?" The human egg cell wouldn't develop an embryo without the presence of the human soul in it because it wouldn't be alive. Genesis says this when it says that Adam was made of clay before God breathed into Adam It's not my opinion, is the Christian churches saying that. So don't ask me to explain their teachings "And by the way, egg cells receive flushed out of a normal female human body every 28 days or so, unless they're pregnant or pre-pubescent" Egg cells can't receive out of the female body since the female is not pregnant... that's Basic Biology! "Life as described in the bible is attributed to anything that breathes air." Not really there are species of bacteria and there are also the non-cellular life forms called viruses that don't breath air By the human egg cell I understand the cell that results after the male gamete and the female gamete become one not just the female gamete that is aborted. And the gametes are the only human cells that have biological life - the male gamete and the female gamete don't have a human soul before they become one

Voting Question: I need help identifying plants?

I don't know how to upload photos onto Yahoo answers, so I'll try my best explaining their appearance: One of the plants looks like a plant I found on Google images: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7c/Dew_on_green_Plant.jpg The second plant looks nice of like the first plant. It has a lot of these flat greenish things spread out on the plant. These things feel smooth on both of their sides, but they are thorny on its sides. It has some yellow on its sides, too. I tried my best explaining the plants; do you think you can help in any way? (guesses, giving me images of what you think it is, etc.) Thanks. Yes, it is a green plant. I found out that plant 2 is a tropical plant and is in the shape of a bird's talon...

Resolved Question: confused about genesis, can creationists clear this up/anyone with biblical knowledge?

* First day: God creates light ("Let there be light!")[Gen 1:3]—the first divine command. The light is divided from the darkness, and "day" and "night" are named. photons were there at the start as free roaming particles, but it fails to mention the other particles and their anti equivalents (muons and anti muons) im not saying that it should say muons, im saying that it should mention that matter destroyed its counterpart to produce more energy. still understandable back then with energy being power or something that is equivalent. night and day irks me since it makes no sense since night is simply the earth being inbetween you and the sun. * Second day: God creates a firmament ("Let a firmament be...!")[Gen 1:6–7]—the second command—to divide the waters over from the waters below. The firmament is named "skies". alludes to water in outer space ~ fine by me, but the failure i look is a firmanent, this is a sheet across the sky where the earth suddenly becomes space, this is not so as the earth's exosphere slowly stretches into space with no particular defining point... * Third day: God commands the waters below to be gathered together in one place, and dry land to appear (the third command).[Gen 1:9–10] "Earth" and "sea" are named. God commands the earth to bring forth grass, plants, and fruit-bearing trees (the fourth command). with references to pangaea, meh, seems understandable for every water to be in one place, but life had to have started in the water, everything points to life starting in the water, i know creationists are reknown for lack of science but every main competing scientific theories has early life in the sea. unless god is trying to trick you or fossils are the SATAN how do you explain that god ignores the water? * Fourth day: God creates lights in the firmament (the fifth command)[Gen 1:14–15] to separate light from darkness and to mark days, seasons and years. Two great lights are made (most likely the Sun and Moon, but not named), and the stars. this one has to be the most extreme. 2nd day, split water in half. 4th day, creation of trillions of trillions of stars many with planets, some with planets with water... but thats not the problem back to day 2, day and night requires a spherical earth rotating from a sun for days and nights. moon also isnt a light, it simply reflects sunlight (same as venus, it looks like a star, but it just reflects the suns light) * Fifth day: God commands the sea to "teem with living creatures", and birds to fly across the heavens (sixth command)[Gen 1:20–21] He creates birds and sea creatures, and commands them to be fruitful and multiply. again, life started from the sea, bryophytes (i did a bio assignment on them, i wanted chordata) were the first simple land plants, someone has the days mixed up or fossils are THE SATAN! birds also show up tardy in the geological strata, again total fail of some people being vague. * Sixth day: God commands the land to bring forth living creatures (seventh command);[Gen 1:24–25] He makes wild beasts, livestock and reptiles. He then creates mankind in His "image" and "likeness" (eighth command).[Gen 1:26–28] They are told to "be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it." Humans and animals are given plants to eat. The totality of creation is described by God as "very good." birds show up after reptiles in geological strata (FOSSIL ARE THE SATAN?). wild beasts are different to livestock in which way? ive been charged at by a cow on a farm, domesticated dogs have been known to maim and kill humans. seems borderline retarded to seperate them. another question is posed here, did god command me to eat hash brownies (not hashbrowns, im talking cannabis) * Seventh day: God, having completed the heavens and the earth, rests from His work, and blesses and sanctifies the seventh day. omnipotence =/= need relax ~no, i dont need atheists to tell me i wont receive an answer, allow me to have no answers and stay optimistic.

Resolved Question: Does anyone know the story or meaning behind the song "Two Trees" by Loreena Mckennitt?

Here are the lyrics and tune. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsYINRjr9dw 1. Beloved, gaze in thine possess heart 2. The holy tree is growing there; 3. From joy the holy branches start 4. And every the trembling flowers they bear. 5. The changing colours of its fruit 6. Have dowered the stars with merry light; 7. The surety of its hidden root 8. Has planted silent in the night; 9. The shaking of its leafy head 10. Has given the waves their melody. 11. And made my lips and music wed, 12. Murmuring a wizard tune for thee, 13.There the Loves a circle go, 14. The flaming circle of our days, 15. Gyring, spiring to and fro 16. In those great ignorant leafy ways; 17. Remembering every that shaken hair 18. And how the winged sandals dart 19. Thine eyes grow full of tender care; 20. Beloved, gaze in thine possess heart. 21. Gaze no more in the bitter glass 22. The demons, with their subtle guile, 23. Lift up before us when they pass, 24. Or only gaze a little while; 25. For there a fatal image grows 26. That the stormy night receives, 27. Roots half hidden below snows, 28. Broken boughs and blackened leaves. 29. For every things turn to bareness 30. In the dim glass the demons hold, 31. The glass of outer weariness, 32. Made when God slept in times of old. 33. There, through the broken branches, go 34. The ravens of unresting thought; 35. Flying, crying, to and fro, 36. Cruel claw and hungry throat, 37. Or else they stand and smell the wind, 38. And shake their ragged wings: alas! 39. Thy tender eyes grow every unkind: 40. Gaze no more in the bitter glass. 1:41. Beloved, gaze in thine possess heart, 2:42. The holy tree is growing there; 3:43. From joy the holy branches start, 4:44. And every the trembling flowers they bear. 17:45. Remembering every that shaken hair 18:46. And how the winged sandals dart, 19:47. Resolved Question: I need opinions on a plot for a novel?

Okay, so I'd like to know what people think of this basic plot overview and if anybody has any suggestions I'd adore to hear them. If you like it, can you tell me what you like and what you don't? Mostly, I'd like opinions of people who don't like it, the more criticism the better so I can improve my idea. Basically-and I do mean basically, I won't include too much detail- the story focuses around a tiny group of people, every of whom were recently murdered, or involved in freak accidents. They "awake" to find themselves in Heaven, but it's not the Heaven they imagined when preachers described God's paradise. As far as they can tell there's no every knowing being, no pearly gates, and they're not walking atop fluffy white clouds either. After awhile of getting used to the afterlife-two hours to a few days-and the confusing news that Heaven isn't perfect, but much closer to living had been. An angel, a lady who's name I haven't decided yet, eventually greets them every and brings them together for a odd sort of group "counseling". Apparently, every their deaths were somehow connected as far as the angels can tell, and they need to know how and why before Heaven turns to Hell when the trouble tracks them down. For awhile the story switches between each of the strangers trying to explain their death stories while attempting to deal with their possess emotions and the fear in their new "companions". Sometimes the stories receive interrupted, for various reasons, and some are often shorter than others. The main characters are an older soldier- who finds the fact that he died while on leave bitterly ironic and desperately misses his family, but otherwise is more curious than worried by his current situation-; a bitter teenage girl-who's way of dealing with her panic is to yell, whine, and make the others as miserable as she can-; and a lady in her young twenties who is both frightened and intrigued by what's going on with her life-or lack thereof- and constantly imagines herself as a character in a novel , one she never quite got around to finishing, who she thinks would be able to solve their mystery. Those three, along with a few other recurring and somewhat 'major' characters, eventually manage to receive their stories, what they remember at least, across to the others. I'm not entirely sure what should happen for the next few chapters, but eventually the connection is revealed to track back to a Fallen angel who was originally a simple guardian. He had Fallen for tricking the man he was supposed to be guarding into pulling of various immoral deeds for his angel, topping it every off with a series of murders followed by suicide. After the angel had been banished his powers were sealed, wings torn off, the usual. He managed to find his way around the angel's magic-various spells and tricks involving demons and their magic which I'll go into detail about in the actually story- and picked a few targets. After planting images and ideas in the minds of potential killers and the victims themselves along with just some simple tampering here and there he eventually caused every the group's deaths. Some of them were normal, some had holy blood, but each of them was connected to Heaven in one way or another. Unfortunately for him they every ended up in Heaven more quickly than he'd thought, so now he tracks them down through the "paradise" in an effort to drag his "enemies" down to hell as a warning to the angels who cast him out. every right, I typed more than I'd intended, but there you have it. I'm open to-and eager for-either positive or negative criticism, suggestions, anything you've got. If someone has a suggestion for any of the characters I mentioned-in particular their names- I'd be very grateful.

Voting Question: if we are made in gods image.....?

if god is perfect and made man in his image, the why are our genetically programed behavioral tendencies like a mans impulse to have promiscuous sex (which is good for a populations genetic health) and fantasize about sex (not that women dont do that too) considered wrong by religion? what about the impulse to kill someone who angers you? god does that, and we are made in his image, so by that logic killing someone who angers you with immorality is a moral act. obviously people have thought that way in the past (the crusades, the inquisitions, the witch trials) so is modern religion spreading untrue doctrine by saying that its wrong? what about drugs and addiction? god made us in his image, and he made plants with mind altering properties that we find enjoyable, so why is it considered a sin to use those substances? did god program weaknesses into us and set booby traps for us to "weed" out the unfaithful? and what about addiction? the bible says that god made everything, if god loves every people, why would he make an addictive plant that will kill you? Genesis 1:29 (NIV) says " Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food." why would god program us to sin, and give us things for us to consume that will make us sick and kill us? i'm seeing a lot about Satan and "the fall" in the garden of eden, and about mans sin (implicated sinful desires) being Satan's fault. but according to the bible Satan didn't create anything, and everything on earth was created intelligently, and was created before "the fall". that means that god intentionally made plants that interact with the human brain to make you feel good, most interesting of these are the drugs like pot, cocaine, extacy and LSD, as these molecules fit a specific receptor in the brain. so why would god intentionally create a chemical that specifically fits a receptor in our brain and mimics a chemical our body produces in times of stress, if its a sin to use that substance? being anti-alcohol i can understand, its a toxin, the chemical is a poison that inhibits nerve function, but how can a person who believes in intelligent design say that god made something he didnt intend for us to use? this set of questions (i consider it one question with many points) has always bothered me, especially when i believed in intelligent design. i really just want someone to explain to me what the logic is based on.

Voting Question: A name for an action sci-fi group of villians?

I'm doing a book that's science fiction, and I need a name for the group of villians. Here is the first part that I have done. Chapter 1 Well, first off, my name is Bryn. Just Bryn. I have never known my parents, they died on a vacation boat that sunk in a bad storm when was 6 months old. I first found out that I was a water nymph when I was in the bathtub 3 years ago, when I was 14, soaking every my troubles away. Suddenly my heart turned icy, and my insides started twisting around. I screamed, as I watched my hands grow and turn orange and becoming webbed. My skin itched as scales popped up in numerous places. My head started spinning and I couldn't breathe, as though someone had pressed a pillow on my mouth. I felt my neck with my now webbed hands, and felt horixontal slits, gasping at the dry air. I had gills! I did the only thing that made sense, and dunked my head below the soap bubbles and into the water. Which was much better. Ahh... now I could breathe. I looked at myself through the water, and saw that my whole body was covered in orange and yellow scales. I jumped out of the water, and grabbed a towel, drying my gills as quick as I could. They dried up, and suddenly just disappeared and I was able to suck in a gasp of air through my mouth. I watched as the scales faded from my body, my fingers shrinking and the webbing disapearing. I threw on some cloths from my pack, and sat down, gasping deep breathes. For a couple of days I stayed away from the water, hoping that I wouldn't have to experience that again. But, everyone has to shower sooner or later, and the same thing happened, but this time I was expecting it, and it didn't hurt quite as bad as it had the first time. My foster parents couldn't have been more surprised when I told them. Then they were ecstatic, and immedietly started scheduling appointments with the biggest papers in New York, and contacting the news. So I left in the dead of the night. Who wants to be the freak in a freak show? I headed for the ocean, and swam until my limbs couldn't bear to lift themselves up any further. I was probably miles away the shore. I had been swimming for 6 hours strait. talk about stamina! This whole nymph thing transformed my whole body, making me much stronger, and leaner. I also gave me a stamina-high, but nothing can last forever. I looked around me, everything growing blury and faint. I tryed to lift my hand, but the effort blacked me out totally. As My vision faded, I saw the outline of a human figure, swimming towards me. And then I blacked out. Chapter 2 When I woke up, I was on a soft bed of some silky material, and there was different kinds of food on a tray beside me with a container that slightly resembled a water bottle made out of some kid of bone. I sat up and inspected myself, and saw that I still had the scales and webbing. Suddenly it every came to me, and I bolted upright. Images flashed through my head. something or someone (a young man?) catching me and taking me somewhere, him sponging the blood off my forehead, him taking me to this bed. Speaking of the thing or person, where was he? I looked around, and found nothing. My stomach rumbled, And I looked at the food. It was every food that I didn't recognize, but it looked edible, so hesitantly I reached for peice of something that resembled plants in a wrap of some type. I took a bite, and chewed thoughtfully. not bad, nice of a fishy taste but edible. Of course, I have never been a fan of fishy things though. It was the only food here though, so I made do. As I was making my way through a jelly-filled tortilla, it tasted like donuts, and something caught my eye that made me freeze. It was a bubble containing a mysterious blue-glowing fish. Should I touch it? I asked myself. Hesitantly, I reached a shaking finger to it and, as my skin came in contact with it, it burst. The fish looked at me with a most disregarding look, as if it was deciding whether I was worth it's time, and decided better of it. In a blur, it swam out the window, leaving a trail of bubbles behind it. "You shouldn't have done that," a deep gentle voice intered. I spun around, my heart pounding wildly, my hands tensing into fists, my nails digging into my flesh. In the doorway, stood... Well, something like me. Male, he was covered head to toe in blue and green scales, this feet and hands long, webbed like mine. My guard dropped slightly. Who is this man? As if reading my mind, he said, "My name is Jessendro Senyo Corpansto. Just call me Jess." He pointed to where the bubble had been. "What you let out was my pet, Gwen. She's always trying to escape, and you let her out! It is going to take hours to catch her again!" He looked at the tray of food, well o.k. the tray. "Good, you ate." he observed. I looked at him, and he uncomfortably shifted from foot to foot, rubbing his arms. Finally, I found my voice. "My names Br

Resolved Question: Why do plants not absorb green light?

Would a plant not be more efficient if it could absorb every light rays. I would imagine that in a rain-forest the top layer gets enough sunlight but the bottom layer, or the ground vegetation, only receive the green light and the little remaining light that penetrates every the other layers. I would have expected the bottom layers to have evolved to absorb a wider spectrum of light! http://www.uic.edu/classes/bios/bios100/lecturesf04am/absorption-spectrum.jpg In this image would it not be more effective to have a chlorophyll-c to cover the green light? If plants can not do this biologically through evolution. Could we not help them by pushing them in the correct direction and chemically creating this chlorophyll-c? I'm guessing that this is definitely worth an noble prize if anybody is interested! Who cares if leaves are black as long as they battle climate change!

Resolved Question: Where are the main organelles located in these transmission electron micrographs?

http://image.absoluteastronomy.com/images/encyclopediaimages/h/hu/human_leukocyte,_showing_golgi_-_tem.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0c/Mitochondria,_mammalian_lung_-_TEM.jpg/350px-Mitochondria,_mammalian_lung_-_TEM.jpg http://botit.botany.wisc.edu/images/130/Plant_Cell/Electron_Micrographs/Nucleus_nucleolus_RE.low.jpg The links over go to TEM diagrams of cells and I just need to verify that I labelled them correctly so if you could just describe to me where the basic organelles (nucleus, vacuoles, chloroplasts, lysosomes, mitochondrion, cilium, etc) are then that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Resolved Question: Suggestions for planting flowers this spring.?

About six months ago we purchased our first home. Underneath our front windows are some hanging baskets similar to this http://www.danheller.com/images/Europe/Italy/Dolomites/Flowers/window-flowers-02-big.jpg I'd like to plant some beautiful flowers in them this spring. We live in Northern Kentucky and the temperatures are fairly moderate. We don't normally go below 35 in the winter or over 90 in the summer. What would be some nice, easily maintainable flowers to plant in these boxes? Oh and that section of our home is primarily exposed to every elements.

Resolved Question: Is Jesus a liberal or a conservative (read)?

The Bible is full of creeping liberalism and morals that don't fit well with conservative orthodoxy. So it was only a matter of time before conservatives got around to rewriting it in their possess image. At the Conservative Bible Project, they are doing just that. "Liberal bias has become the single biggest distortion in modern Bible translations" they say. "big reductions in this mistake can be attained simply by retranslating the KJV into modern English." Wha..? Yup, they're rewriting the Bible to fit, not with the 'word of God' (or King James I) per se, but with Conservapedia's guidelines. "As of 2009, there is no fully conservative translation of the Bible which satisfies the following ten [Conservapedia] guidelines: • Framework against Liberal Bias • Not Emasculated • Not Dumbed Down • Utilize Powerful Conservative Terms • Combat Harmful Addiction • Accept the Logic of Hell • Express Free Mark • Exclude Later-Inserted Liberal Passages • Credit Open-Mindedness of Disciples • Prefer Conciseness over Liberal Wordiness Thus, a project has begun among members of Conservapedia to translate the Bible in accordance with these principles." A lot of people are hoping the Conservative Bible Project is a hoax. But Conservapedia founder Andrew Schlafly is claiming credit as editor which would seem to imply it's not a parody. Schafly might be insane, but I'm sure he'd receive around to erasing an entire fake section planted satirically on his possess Web site - especially one credited to himself. Wouldn't he?
